Greetings again, Fonty
You say >>I'm not sure I totally agree with all you say here Unyquity. I really don't think that 'enlightened' cures like fasting are any more available to most people than enlightened soul searching.<<
And I say (with a big stupid grin) - I AM sure I don't have a clue what you might mean by your reference to " 'enlightened' cures like fasting". I didn't mean to imply that fasting was somehow enlightened, or that one had to be enlightened in order to fast. (lol, it MUST be past my bedtime!)
In a nutshell, I too have all KINDS of faith in human nature...but true human nature is NOT the same once the human has been poisoned with substances that dull the mind. Hitler used fluoride to 'dumb/numb down' the population of countries he invaded, and both Hitler AND the Russians used fluoride in the water of the prison camps to quiet the resisters. Fluoride causes apathy, and it causes it big time...not only is it in our water, it's in most antidepressants and many antiobiotics (it takes aways our ability to care/hence the antidepressants - and it's a lethal poison to all forms of life/hence the Antibiotics .
Human nature is simply longer true human nature. Think of the youth of our country and how they reacted to Vietman - now think of the youth of our country and how they've NOT reacted to the unjust, contrived war in Iraq. And the Vietnam era youth didn't have the Internet to expose the torture in prisons, the unjust imprisonment of those in Guantanamo Bay, the use of 'globally illegal' chemical warfare in Iraq, and the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent civilians.
Has human nature changed? Or has it BEEN changed? 'Tis food for thought, for sure.
And regarding this:
>>I'm not the religious type so I don't believe that change is going to be forced upon us if we don't do it ourselves<< Once again, I'm totally lost. I don't know what being a 'religious type has to do with change being forced upon us ...if we don't do it ourselves. (???) Are you talking about change for the good or bad?
Most all religions believe their version of "god" endowed humans with free will. (just a comment - I don't know if it makes any sense 'in context' or not).
I do know that I believe that change for the bad can happen (and is clearly happening) due to the well-layed plans of various power hungry groups over the centuries (those truths and evidence of the same are easy to find once one starts looking). And of course, change for the good can happen for all varieties of reasons.
Fonty, I really am enjoying our discussions - but sadly, my CZ time limit is WAY past it's limit (and it's time for me to get some sleep).
Btw, if you happen to reply (to this or my latest response), I probably won't have a chance to respond for at least a couple of days. (it's not that I think my reply is *important*, I just didn't want you to think I was being rude or ignoring you).
Peace -
Unyquity
