Please read my edited version of the above thread. I am most definitely NOT recommending that anyone should use illegal drugs. These days, drugs are how the angry, bitter and hopeless people deaden their pain while waiting for the grim reaper to cut the cord to their life on this planet.

Fortunately, there are still plenty of legal psychotropic substances, that will nourish the portion of the brainstem that makes it possible for people to comprehend advanced spiritual concepts.

Unfortunately, most folks are afraid to take them and they prefer to rely on religious leaders, who are eager to do their spiritual thinking for them. Religious leaders apparently see themselves as kind shepherds, put upon the planet to lead the sheep.

They don't seem to have a lot of faith in the potential of ordinary human beings to comprehend higher spiritual concepts. How difficult would it be to explain to people that evolution is the process of creation? It was God's idea. There is no conflict between Science and religion.

I read somewhere that priests and nuns meditate, but they don't teach lay catholics how to do it. Why not? Everybody should do it. They encourage people to pray and talk to God, but they don't teach people how to still their minds and listen for the answer. Why? Because if people listen to God, they are not as likely to accept moral dictates and religiously influenced social contructions.
