Similar fundraising has been happening at my market as well.

For the last month, when at the checkout, the cashier would ask if I'd like to donate to ------ (fill in the blank). Everything from cancer research (breast cancer is BIG right now because so many women have got it & they're effectively scaring other women into making a contribution) to food shelves.

Not to sound too cynical, but aren't they milking us enough already?
