For "breast cancer awareness month", it is timely to do honor to the breadth of Iodine researchers who have been working on the relationship between Iodine and breast cancer.

Today, let's honor researcher Funahashi H et al., for their 1996 study, The Suppressive Effect of Iodine in DMBA Induced Breast Tumor Growth in Rats Given Iodine and Progesterone.

Findings: In a comparison of tissue of the iodine content in growth-suppressive tumors with that in nonsuppressive tumors, the former showed a much higher iodine content. This suggests that the direct uptake of inorganic iodine by breast tumors led to the suppression of tumor growth. The addition of progesterone made the effect even more powerful.
