I found this article very interesting.

I sometimes notice tiny, tiny traces of blood in the mucus I spit up, also it can be found in the awful white sticky "stuff" up my nose too. The tiny traces of blood usually occur when I have the cough with more of the awful sputum.

I did often wonder if it was from my lungs.
