this is nothing new. when the nazis invaded northern africa they were dying left and right from dysentery. someone saw a bedouin with dysentery eating small amounts of camel poo. the nazis cultured the camel poo, found a micro organism (b. subtilis), isolated it, and used that to treat dysentery with wonderful results. that was the standard form of treatment for a decade or so before modern pharmacueticals found other treatments.
