when i went to rehab that is one of the things i remember them saying... that we remain at whatever age we were when we started drinking... but... once we get sober and stay sober we begin to grow again...

when we talk of maturity it is only relevant as to how we feel and act... as we become more and more sober we become more and more sane... as sanity returns we begin to see more clearly our insanities... and as that happens we begin to see that most of our insanities were imposed on us... we were conditioned to think/act/and believe the way we did... for we can more and more clearly see the insanities in the society that reared us... so it eventually becomes more and more a question of how much we can unlearn... or let go of... as the case may be... it is mostly through self examination that we learn more and more of who we truly are... and what life is all about... as opposed to who we thought we were... and how we reacted to outer circumstances rather than being centered within our own being...

don't want to make this too long... because there is much in the big book and the 12 & 12 that goes into great depth/detail... it seems the more years i have been in AA the more and more there is to learn... and i really relish/enjoy big book & step studies...

there's another saying that might be heard around the tables of AA... and that is...
"we walked a long way into the woods... so it is going to be a long walk out"... which simply means to say that it is going to take time... just remember to
"Keep it Simple"...
"Easy Does It"...
"Live and Let Live"...

take care...
God bless...

oh yeas... and remember...
"it's a wonderful day in the neighborhood"...
lol...
;-)
