well I dont believe it was just the protein shakes.. I was also taking cold milled flax seeds and the fact that I had NO sugar..  the shakes had splenda...BAD BAD I know but what's worse eh? And fish oil pills towards the end

the shakes I was taking were called BSN SYNTHA 6 .they are great tasting.
