I do no grains at all, optimally. I have noticed spikes in my blood Sugar from buckwheat as well, even though it is not technically a grain. I have also tried using flaxmeal with added wheat germ and wheat bran, and it also spikes my blood sugar. You might want to eat a heavy grain meal and then get your blood Sugar tested two hours afterward. Your blood Sugar should be under 140 two hours after a meal. Check around with your friends and see who knows a diabetic. Someone will do you a favor of testing your blood sugar with a finger stick for you. My belief is that the 2 hour test is even more important than the fasting blood sugar as most hypoglycemics test normal on the fasting test, but not on the 2 hour test. You want it to be just at 2 hours and not much more because your blood sugar tends to drop quickly.

To eat without grains and heated fats takes a lot of doing, but it is possible.
