I agree to a limited extent, but disagree because of the evidence.
#1 The lower the pH of the blood, the less active that the immune system is.
#2 A lower pH negatively affects certain proteins, called histones, that regulate DNA expression. It may possibly be the failure of these histones that cause cancer. More research is needed in this area.
#3 The occurence of cancer and other illnesses greatly increases with lower pH.
Alkalyzing is best done with natural foods, but sadly, many foods that were once alkaline have lost much of this natural alkalinity. This is mostly due to depletion of minerals from the soil. Fertilizing basically replaces nitrogen, potash, and phosphorous. Calcium, magnesium, sulphur, iodine, boron, etc are rarely added back to the soil, even in organic gardening.
I did not have any serious illness that I know of but using my own alkaline drink, I have brought my pH from 5.8 to 7.0 when I was not able to with vegetable dieting. I use reduced amounts of the drink to keep stabilized.
