Thanks Molly for the article.
From the article it does appear highly likely that the oil is being absorobed into the body/blood through the mouth. The other way would be to perhaps check the weight of the oil before and after. Even test the oil for nutrition value (but I'm not a chemist).
I noticed that sesaeme oil/cooking oil nutriutional information (http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-C00001-01c208F.html) Shows high Omega-6, low omega 3 and Vitamin E and K. Theorising here; perhaps it is the Vitamin E and K that give the most benefit as it is exetremely bioavaiable during oil pulling. I have been taking unique E (natural brand of vitamin E) for about two months and that had an immediate positive effect on skin, thinking etc. However, the oil pulling seems to potentially deliver more to the body.
Also found this for those who use sesame oil:
http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=84
"sesame seeds contain two unique substances: sesamin and sesamolin. Both of these substances belong to a group of special beneficial fibers called lignans, and have been shown to have a cholesterol-lowering effect in humans, and to prevent high blood pressure and increase vitamin E supplies in animals. Sesamin has also been found to protect the liver from oxidative damage."
Since starting the oil pulling last week it has made a significant difference more energy, great sleep, skin is so supple, sour mouth beginning to go, teeth whiter and gums supple. I will definately continue.
I hope this adds to the discussion.
