I think the intention of cross-posting is a good one; however, the reality is that cross-posting is not being used as it was intended. People with real problems and seeking a variety of answers or opinions can benefit greatly from the cross posting feature. But, it seems like there are some people who use the feature just to get attention or get their names seen in as many places as possible. I really don't know how this feature an be policed so deserving posters can still get their questions out there. For now, I would just as soon see the feature disabled.
I avoid the problem by not reading posters who tend to post fluff on serious forums, not clicking on anything that says video embedded, and using the view entire thread feature to quickly determine if the thread has any "meat" to it. Still, it is a hassle to go through so much nonsense when searching for answers.
