Sick older dog

My dog began having seizures a few days ago. They were very severe, and it was very frightening as you can imagine. After having multiple ones all night Thursday I took him to the vet's office. The vet thinks because of his age ( he is about 13 ) that it's a brain tumor. He prescibed phenobarbital for control of the seisures ( he kept him all day that day to get him stabalised ). It's been a scary few days to say the least ( My son and I spent hours at the emergency vet Thursday night, and that was a really bad experience! ). I have kind of adjusted as much as I can to the fact he is going to have to be euthanised at some point ( sadly probably soon ). My vet doesn't advocate going for the expensive tests like MRI and spinal tap and says the treatments are not very promising anyway and can run into the thousands ( the testing alone would cost thousands ).

My question is are there any safe herbals treatments I could give him to prolong his life and make him more comfortable, that would not interfere with his current anti-seizure medicine? Have any members had a similar experience with a dog?
