Mankind has been hunting meat for tens of thousands of years. However, during an organized hunt, the intended prey had the ability to run from the hunters, thus, the hormones that were released were used up and disspipated.
In today's feedlots, there is no chance for "flight," and the animals that are lined up for slaughter can only wallow in their terror until the end.
One more reason to find a LOCAL organic farmer who butchers his own animals. Under those circumstances, there tends to be more kindness and care given to the animals and no hours of terror awaiting the inevitable.
