Without knowing more, I would say... yes!

If you are a first time faster, I would begin with a week of cleansing diet to prepare the body for the fast. Eating a cleansing diet if you suspect cancer is not a bad thing in any case! Then, I would begin with a three day cleansing fast. If that goes well and you would like to proceed with a longer fast, eat another week of cleansing diet and do five days. If you still feel you would like to do more, eat another five days of cleansing diet and do ten days! Fasts of this short duration are not likely to do any harm, and may very well do you a lot of good, helping your body to cleanse, detox and heal. While not a substitute for conventional treatment if you do have cancer, a good housecleaning could be an excellent step in your treatment and recovery program.

You may know that an acid environment is a perfect breeding ground for cancer and other major problems. Many of us tend to have an acid system due to incorrect eating, not drinking enough water etc.

Unfortunately most conventional medical people are unlikely to understand this process. If you are in the middle of serious health concerns, I would suggest you find a natural health professional who DOES, to help you understand your issues and help you outline your strategies and goals that work along with your conventional treatment, if you are going that route.

Back to fasting. Begin with a cleansing diet. I ate this way for a month before my 60 day mega fast (I did industrial strength body cleansing for four years to remove the amazing amounts of toxic waste I had packed into my poor abused colon!), and was glad I did:

Have a fresh fruit and natural yogurt (with a good culture) smoothie for breakfast. You could also just put the yogurt and fruit in a bowl if you are in the mood to chew. A few raw nuts on top is nice if you like. A spoonful of ground organic flax seed is also a very nice addition.

Eat a big fresh vegetable salad for lunch, dressed with good oil like flax or EVOO, and the juice of a fresh lemon. Garlic! Great stuff.

Make a big pot of homemade vegetarian vegetable soup. Have all you like for dinner. I have eaten this same soup for months at a time while cleansing, and still love it.

Eat nothing not on the list above. If you are a coffee drinker, don't stop! TAPER OFF over about 3 days, and quit gradually. I drink only one cup of weenie instant a day, and I still have to taper off, and still miss that one cup while I am cleansing! Caffeine is powerful stuff!

Drink all the FRESH juices you like while eating the cleansing diet -- fruits in the am when the body is naturally cleansing, veggies in the pm. Drink LOTS of pure water! At least 1/2 oz. per pound of body weight is a good rule of thumb.

Fresh fruits and vegetables reduce acidosis. Continue your cleanse with 3 days of fresh juices, fruits am, veggies pm. If you have any yeast issues, restrict your fruits to green apples (fresh ginger is an excellent addition, and helps kill off yeast), and drink lots of green vegetable juices.

Juice fasting is not low maintenance. You need to shop, prep and juice up fresh produce regularly! I juice up enough for a full day, with maybe a little to spare in case I get pressed for time the next morning. Store airtight in the fridge and your juice will be fine!

Drink 3-6 cups juice daily. If you feel you need more, drink more!

While fasting you will need to do a daily colon cleansing routine, another great idea if you are starting a cancer treatment. Consider including a series (usually three) of professional colonics in your program, one at the beginning of your fast (after your first week of cleansing diet), one after your first 3 days of fasting, and another when your colonic pro recommends...

At home, you will do one or more of the following every fasting day:

Cup of strong herbal lax tea (Smooth Move is a popular brand) every evening, and again the next morning; OR

Cup of strong lax tea pm, salt water flush (SWF) the next morning:

Easy SWF:

Dissolve 2 teaspoons UNIODIZED Sea Salt (available at health food and gourmet stores) in ONE cup drinkably hot water.

Have THREE cups plain water standing by

CHUG as much salt mixture as you can, CHASE with fresh. Continue til ALL water is consumed. About an hour later the whole quart will exit, carrying everything withiin its path! This is an excellent flush of the entire digestive system, not for the commute! LOL Best reserved for a relaxed morning at home, say a weekend day or two.

OR

Substitute a plain water enema for any/all of the above.

Colon cleansing is critical while fasting to help the body remove toxins quickly and help you to avoid "toxic crises". Toxic crisis will take the form of headaches (common with caffeine), body aches, flu like symptoms, skin eruptions... crummy feeling! If this happens, treat yourself like you have the flu. Stay in, stay down and drink LOTS of liquids! Include hot herb teas like chamomile and peppermint in your fast if you like, particularly nice if you are not feeling well.

You should be able to continue your regular daily routines while fasting. I fasted 60 days and worked out at the gym every day barring crises (there were a couple) and felt great!
