My first step would be to check if the product is under warranty. I would call the manufacturer to ask the same question you have asked here and go from there. I would also treat any kind of odor coming out of cookware as toxic. If it's not the odor of cooking food, then it's either some rubber or metallic part heating up. Neither is good.
