I have come across a whole chapter in my "molecular biotechnology" text. This bacillium has been genetically altered to produce a "better" toxin which the manufacturers harvest and crystalize. They produce 3 versions cry1, cry2 and cry3. This [the altered bacillium]is basically a man-made life form which would not occur naturally in the environment. However, it would be well monitored for adverse effects in livestock.
The problem is.....it may cause resistence in insects and parasites---It only represents something like 1-2% of commercial insecticide use in the world {it is more expensive] Makes you wonder what the majority of {cheap} insecticide is doing to the Darwinian process of nature. You may have mutant worms aka 'super worms'. Shroom
