Re: Cry5B & Bacillus thuringiensis

Wow. First time around I did not get as far as the product description. The options all appeared on the surface to be much like that which Ortho, etc. put out. But it does read Bt concentrate. Hmm.

I'd be all over it. Cool that your husband is a scientist. Too cool. Wow again. I'm thinking my brother (horticulturalist/landscape architect) might be able to get his hands on some for me (but I asked several months ago when I did not have all the details straight and he didn't like the idea of ingesting it in any way, just never heard of this use but knows the stuff real well otherwise) - but now looking at this site I'm thinking maybe the average joe can purchase. I need to read more and inquire. If you know the answer to this (can we buy it without being of a related trade) please advise.

The only thing which would concern me if it is available to us one way or another is that my understanding of this compound is that it's the crystal protein (deriv?) which is non harmful to humans. I don't know that I've yet read that Bt itself (the organism?) is unharmful.

I'm glad this stuff is being discussed again. I can't get it out of my mind since it came up a couple weeks back - the Yale study, etc.

Please let us know if you learn more and I'll do the same.
