Re: Minerals and Teeth
Your messages are fine. They always make me put my thinking cap on.
Your question about protein, stumps me a bit. Protein, would essentially fall under phosphorus, and I'm still pretty vague on phosphorus. I do know that like calcium it needs vitamin D to be properly absorbed. Since I tend to take each nutrient separately, I add a vitamin D cap to my calcium supps. I only eat fish as a meat source, and guess that my D level is sufficient for the phosphorus that it supplies. I try to take 800-1000mg of vitamin D each day(including all supps). I tend to be low in calcium, too, and my absorption could use all the help it can get.
I use potassium gluconate for my potassium source, as chloride tends to dry me, as well. When I use Concentrace, I nearly shrivel up like a prune from the one-two punch of the magnesium and the chloride. I also eat a good bit of potatoes. When I need an extra boost, and I can tolerate the sodium, I also take Alka-Seltzer Gold. Usually, one tablet is enough for me.
The
Iodine has done absolute wonders for my digestion. Yes, my stools darkened, and my fat digestion improved considerably. In fact, now, about a month into my
Iodine therapy, I have no apparent issues with fat absorption. And fat would have me bloating and cramping for a day or two in the past. The iodine, may help you with your anti-oxidant problem since vitamins A, E, and K are all oil-based. Remember to include selenium while you are using
Iodine to protect your thyroid from hydrogen peroxide production(a normal process, but can be damaging to the thyroid if selenium is missing).
See the attached link. Scroll down to the section labelled 'Interactions between selenium and iodine'. Very informative.

Also, I believe I mentioned that my skin has cleared so well since starting the iodine. I don't scar as bad, but I also am not breaking out hardly at all. I took 100mg of vitamin C and got a small whitehead in my zinc/chromium zone, but I added some zinc and chromium, and it came to head before the end of the day. It isn't even sensitive to the touch now.
I'm certain that iodine has had a major impact on my improved health, but I can't say it is the one and only reason. I have a very full array of supps that I use on a fairly specific schedule. It has taken me years to finally figure out what and how much I need. Unfortunately, it is also very specific to my own needs, and not likely to be transferable. Plus, the list and details would just be way too time consuming. Each thing I use is for a specific relationship with other nutrients. I'm certain that as you continue to evaluate your body's reactions and research nutrition, the right combinations will develop. I'm definitely willing to help you find your nutrition combo. But, I strongly suggest continuing the iodine, and visit the
Iodine Forum for details on the protocols.
