Re: and that's when the doorbell rings... + clarification on face-staining

I read a story once about the woman who decided to clean her ceilings. To avoid getting dust all over her hair and clothes, she stripped naked and put on her son's football helmet. As she was sweeping the ceiling, she turned around to see the meter reader staring at her. He said, "I sure hope your team wins, Lady."

What I have found is that I can put a couple of drops of Lugol's on my face with no apparent stain. (The orange-yellow color was from the red palm oil.) But I have made my oil/Lugol's mix several times using whatever oil (most recently coconut and red palm) and 4-5 drops of Lugol's in a demitasse cup (finally -- a use for them! who has time to make espresso?). That proportion of Lugol's to oil doesn't leave an io-stain. And when I put coconut oil and Lugol's on my face, I just wipe it off and it sort of stays on as moisturizer (i.e. I wipe off the excess with a warm cloth but don't use soap). I've also mixed Lugol's -- a couple of drops -- with sunscreen for both the girls and me with no staining.

It does of course stain when you apply it full-strength. But it's definitely the red palm oil that makes the orange-yellow Oompa-Loompa face color.

I have pretty fair skin so I am sure that the darker your skin tone, the less chance there would be of Lugol's staining.
