Re: 5th Day and some questions

Let me first preface this by saying I am NOT a fasting expert, but the mint thing has me wondering if it's a good idea. Only because when we stick something delicious in our mouths, especially when we're trying not to eat, it makes us want to chew and swallow, therefore breaking our fast. Even if it's only a breath mint.

I speak from personal experience. I stayed on what I termed a Water Fast for 4 days before (shooting for 30. Always shooting for 30) thinking I would use mints to combat the bad breath phase of fasting. I was eating two tins of mints a day. The first day I did just suck on them, but whether we chew or not, I'm quite sure it affects our blood Sugar which should be regulated by the fast itself. I say that because many diabetics suck on hard candy to increase their blood sugar. Also, I didn't experience nearly as many benefits as I did when I did not chew gum or suck on mints in subsequent fast attempts.

As far as the itching, people experience detox in different ways. Some people get pimples and boils, others like you may have itchy, dry skin. I would try getting a back brush and using that in your daily showers to cleanse, scrub off any dry skin and then be sure to moisturize really well. I'm sure it's nothing more than a detox symptom that will pass. When you experience it, maybe you can reassure yourself that the fast is working because your detoxing!
