you can do whatever you want, but Iodine is iodine. its an element. the elemental form is what is getting the results in all the studies. i boosted the iodine(as opposed to iodide) in my Lugols formulation by 20% an i have gotten a 20% boost in effectiveness. this is a subjective view of how my Iodine supplementation of over 100mg per day is presenting clinically.
since Iodine is essential, then the only problem you have is not that you cant take iodine, but that you need to move your health picture in the direction so that you can. that would be a worthy topic on the Iodine Forum . this whiney "i cant" stuff just doesnt cut it there. its not true. the fact is, you wont.
