I read the article, and I don’t think that meeting/group is for me. I never suggest to a sponsee that he go off his medications, or that he start dating. In fact, I do suggest he keep his pants on for the first year and avail himself of any needed medical help.

I do suggest he take a pass on hanging out with his old drinkin’ buddies. And for drunks like me, almost all my friends drank like I did, so I guess I was suggesting he change a lot.

All of us have crossed paths with the bleeding deacon, the one that has all the answers, just ask him. But I never ran into an entire meeting/group of them all at once. That would not work for me.

I tell my sponsees that meetings are like shoes, try on a few until you find a good fit. Then start walking. And remember, this organization is made up of people just like you and me. Shot full of flaws the bunch of us. That we get it right as often as we do is a miracle in it’s self.
