Re: Depression and Hypoglycemia
Dear Archus,
As with addiction and other "mental" illnesses, patients have to learn to take responsibility for their illness. She needs to be motivated to treat herself.
If she is not motivated perhaps the course in Values Clarification might help her sort out her values, aims and life choices. Most people are not motivated because they don't know how to get out of the trap. The course can be found at:
Values Clarification course at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/psychotherapy/values_clarification.html
She also needs to know how she can treat herself, thus I suggest she read the articles about the connection between
Depression and nutrition. It can all be found at our web site at:
We have a discussion board at the website, and if she wants to she can ask questions there.
I am sure, once she understand why people become depressed, that she will be able to treat herself.
Otherwise I suggest that she consult Nutritional Doctors or a Clinical Nutritionists, but even then she needs to take responsibility for her illness.
We also have a self-help psychotherapy course free of charge.
I sincerely hope that she will soon start to feel better.
Cheers,
Jurriaan Plesman
