Re: Hi Been There..(and Tomi :-)

#3230,
the thing is, anyone can prophesy. all one has to do is take a mean set of averages based on events and conditions and one wont be far out. so prophesy is not my 'cup of tea'.
as far as the events or the likelihood of catastrophes in the US or for that matter anywhere in the world is usually environmental and some man-made.
california sits on a fault line, new orleans was taken from the sea and 'protected' by levies, other places in line for tsunamis from other lands. the catastrophic weather that the US endures is mainly due to the land positioned between the atlantic and pacific oceans (cold and warm air meeting up).
the difference being the technology of communications we have today compared with yesteryear. every bit of doom and gloom is brought to our tv screens and is interpreted as "the end is nigh". global warming is also debatable. gone are the graphs that told us what happened a thousand or so years ago and how the temperature of the oceans determine the earths climate along with the sun. we are now fed with short term graphs that show climate change over the past few hundred years, how the blazes can 'short term' readings tell us that human habitation is near it's end? the Co2 that is manufactured by us is miniscule compared with the oceans Co2 emissions.
yes we do have a problem with man-made emissions because everything needs to breathe clean air, but there again volcano's throw out more pollution than we do so we must just have to live with that.
that's my humble opinion #3230, so i'm not going to get caught up with all those that prophesy darkness, i shall remain in the light of the sun and enjoy natures beauty, can i borrow your boathouse?, tomi.

The thing is, for years we have been hearing of New York City disappearing under a major flood or unexpected earthquake, California slipping into the ocean, Oregon being hit by an enormous tidal wave.....etc.,etc. After seeing what happened in New Orleans and Mississippi we can certainly believe that any of us can be the next target for a disaster, and even believe that it may not be all "accidental". But to put an actual date on disasters and then call it Biblical -- c'mon....know what I mean, jellybean?
