Not Vicodin or Oxycodone, but when I left Viet Nam in 1970, I was strung out on smack. Heroin. And I didn’t know what was wrong with me. It felt just like the flu, only worse. I was sick as a dog for days, and didn’t know I was going cold turkey, I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I was just a dumb kid with a monkey on his back.

It passed. But for me the trick was, and I didn’t know it at the time, was I changed my playground and my playmates. I was away from that life.

If your girlfriend really wants to be clean, the first thing she needs to do is quit hanging out with users, and quit going to where she cops her dope. She needs to change every dope centric thing in her life. New playmates and new playpens.

As long as you are here at an AA website, may I also suggest she involve herself in 12 step recovery? What does she have to loose?
