Well yeah-- that's one of the things that will eventually happen-- confiscation of any and all supplements and herbs not ok'd by the FDA. This will leave only Pharma Corporate/drug company owned, mostly synthetic, watered down supplements with only a few basic weakened herbs on the shelves- all in pretty cartons and bottles. The rest of the stuff we see now will probably be pulled off the shelves to make way for the allowable pathetic stuff. No, it won't happen at once-- but it will happen in a several year period-- probably by 2012, ALL small honest herbal and truly all natural
supplement companies will either be bought over by Pharma companies, or will be kicked out of business. Healthfood stores will no longer be able to purchase them for sale.




It will probably happen gradually-- because even with DSHEA, the FDA has the right to pull something off of the shelf if they can "prove" that it is either worthless or a danger. For example, most nutritionally knowledgable people know that when you take a zinc tablet on an empty stomach, that you will have some stomach discomfort. It should be taken with a meal. Say Joe Schmoe buys a bottle of zinc tablets from the local healthfood store. He pops two in his mouth while driving home. Suddenly he gets heartburn. He calls the FDA consumer hotline and complains, and the FDA grabs the opportunity to document his complaint- and use that as a future excuse to pull zinc supplements off the market.

Already there have been mainstream Associated Press public brainwash articles inspired by the FDA stating that all vitamins and antioxidants are dangerous. I don't see ANY mainstream public news articles unbiasedly describing Codex Ailmentarius to the massive public in all angles- other than to scoff at the concerned nutritional folks who are alarmed by some aspects of it. This is also why there is a lot of confusion.

By using the terms "Medicine" and "treatment" instead of "Modalities" and "therapy", all substances, including vitamins, minerals, herbs, co-factors, etc., automatically become untested drugs since they are being used to prevent, treat, mitigate or cure disease states. Congress has alot of pals in the FDA and one hand washes the other-- don't expect Congress to always act in behalf of the American people or interests. One thing to note is that our current president and vice president have deep vested interest in the petroleum and pharmacuetical industries. Cheney with Haliburtan and Bush with the oil business. All of our pharmacueticals use Petroleum in their products-- both the Petroleum and pharmaceutical business work hand in hand with each other.

Also consider that an influenced Congress will give carte the FDA special over-ruling powers at their disposal.
