Using CS in a nebulizer

I have had a respiratory infection for two months now which has prompted my asthma to "raise its ugly head" again. I have borrowed a nebulizer from a friend and have put CS into it (used it about four times). This does not seem to be working as well as I had expected. Could the problem be that I have washed the parts with tap water and vinegar? Do they leave some residue after drying that interacts with the CS? I am planning to go out and buy some distilled water today and wash the parts with that. I have also used lobelia extract in the nebulizer and that really helps eliminate the mucos in the lungs although, as long as I have an infection, my lungs keep producing more mucos.

Thank you for any help!
