The samples were placed (not consciously) near a heating duct. Every half-hour or so the furnace blasts out warm dry air.
Probably insignificant temp changes, but would certainly cause them to evaporate more quickly.
BTW, I took photos but couldn't figure out how to put them in the body of the message. Suggestions?
