Re: Halide Imbalance Syndrome prevention

That’s very interesting – here’s some ramblings of mine trying to make sense of this
First I’m curious to know how our bodies break down halogenated oils, or if they are absorbed intact. Also, to which capacity can our bodies retrieve Iodine from lipid storage (I hear most Iodine is stored in the thyroid to be readily available and converted into thyroid hormones)

I’m a bit unclear on the actual preferred form of Iodine ingestion – Iodide form is readily absorbed as found in iodized salts (not sure on it’s degree of utilization); then there are organic forms of iodiNe like kelp, which seem to be rich in iodiNe organic forms.
Then there is Lugol’s being mostly in the form of IodiNe in I3- (Apparently upon I2 dissolution it forms I3- and I5- complexes).

Lugol’s solution seems to have the reactive form of iodiNe and the most concentrated of it all, perhaps signifying a higher degree of uptake.

Could it be more beneficial ingesting a straight form of iodine like lugols? Or can halogenating fatty acids be more recognizable forms?

It’s probable that the lugol’s solution will react immediately upon ingestion, since we have high levels of glycogen and fatty acids.

There’s also the method of staining the skin with Lugols solution and watch the stain disappear as the iodine gets “absorbed”. It’s likely that the iodine in the Lugols is reacting with fatty acids in the skin and the color is dissipated has it changes forms (just like your experiment)

At that point it’s possible that the iodized fatty acids in the skin can be tapped in for iodine? Or will the iodine remain in the fatty acids?

I ran across an article where they use Lugols to detect cancerous cells in the ovaries – cancerous cells have very low levels of glycogen so they won’t stain, while healthy cells, containing lots of glycogen will turn purple.
I wonder if this means that when we ingest lugols directly we are staining our insides (could be a nice storage area of iodine lol.

Also since iodine is a great "Antibiotic" it may be another potential reason as to why Lugol's can have more drastic effects. Could halogenating our glycogen/fatty acids with iodine provide an antiseptic coating that renders us "indestructible"? lol ok i'm pushing it now
