Minerals Deficiencies and Disease

Since every disease is a deficiency of one or more minerals, I am going to list some of the minerals that are seen most often to be lacking in people who are sick. I am going to describe the nature of the mineral, the foods it is found in and symptoms of deficiency.

Iodine (the metabolizer)
Indications of iodine deficiencies are claustrophobia, fears, flabby arms, pronunciation difficulties, and mental depression, loss of reason. A major indication of iodine hunger is an extremely nervous condition. Principal sources of iodine are dulse, kelp, garlic, nettle tea.

Sodium (the youth element)
Indications of sodium deficiencies are restlessness, depression, nervousness, poor concentration, tender abdominal muscles, sore cervical glands, puffiness of the face and body and inactive spleen. Sodium was named the youth element due to its properties of promoting youthful, limber flexible, pliable joints. Principal food sources of sodium are celery, carrots, cumbers and whey.

Silicon (the magnetic element)
Indications of silicon deficiencies are poor skin and hair, coordination problems, fungus diseases, parched lips, feeling of approaching death, impotence and sexual disability, grinding teeth. When the silicon reserve in the body is depleted and silicon foods are not provided, brain damage of a permanent nature is possible. Principal food sources of silicon are oats, rye, spinach, beans, oat straw tea.

Calcium (the knitter)
Indications of calcium deficiencies are lack of blood-clotting ability, lack of will power, fear, indecision, lack of strength, boredom, brain fatigue, aches, pains, fatigue, and cramps in the calves. The role of calcium in the body is similar to that in the soil. It aids digestion, nutrition, and neutralization, it promotes good growth, solidity and vigor by helping to regulate metabolism properly. Principal food sources of calcium are all greens, all cheese, cauliflower, and lambs’ quarter.

Phosphorus (the light bearer)
Indications of phosphorus deficiencies are loss of patience, craving excitement, psychosis, fearfulness, gloom, dread of future, lack of confidence, anxiety, the higher intellectual capacity depends on phosphorus, without phosphorus we could not study, read, reason, create, comprehend or visualize. Principal food sources of phosphorus are pumpkin and squash seeds, dairy products, fish, almonds, sunflower seeds, yellow corn, and peas.

Iron (the frisky horse)
Indications of iron deficiencies are weakness, lassitude, skin eruptions, leucorrhoea, tendency for crying, asthma, bronchitis, anemia, slow speech, poor memory, and poor respiration. The average person's diet is lacking iron. Principal food sources of iron are all leafy green vegetables, black berries, black cherries, parsley, yellow dock tea.

Potassium (the great alkalizer)
Indications of potassium deficiencies are desire for cold foods, sour foods, mental illness, negativity, cynicism, restlessness, and nervousness, loss of ambition, fearfulness, tumors, and suspiciousness. Potassium is a natural pain desensitizer in the body; it’s good for controlling convulsions, headaches, neuralgia, strictures, migraine, trifacial neuralgia, cerebral congestion and uterine pain. Potassium acts powerfully on the muscular system, the mind, mental capability, talents, aspirations, personality and temperament. Principal food sources of potassium are potato peeling broth, black olives, bitter greens, kelp, Irish moss, dulse, elder tea.

Oxygen (the life giver)
Indications of oxygen deficiencies are nervous irritability, susceptibility to climatic changes, stubbornness, hypersensitivity, dulled brain, forgetfulness, and dulled senses. Oxygen is needed by each individual cell in the body, for building, energizing and burning up waste. Principal food sources of oxygen are nuts and seeds, leafy green vegetables, grapes, onions, yellow dock tea.

Carbon (the builder)
Indications of carbon deficiencies are lack of feeling, negativity, emaciation, criticism, melancholy. When carbon is lacking, vitality, vim, power, flesh, and looks suffer. Carbon is the basic element of cell birth and cell life. Principal food sources of carbon are fruits, grains, cheeses.

Chlorine (the cleanser)
Indications of chlorine deficiencies are: depression, morbidity, peevishness, sulkiness, glandular swelling, catarrh, restlessness, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, muscular spasms and cramps, poor appetite, sluggish liver. Chlorine acts as the "laundry man" in the body. Principal food sources of chlorine are: goat's milk, beets, dry figs, leeks, carrots, radishes.

Fluorine (decay resistance)
Indications of fluorine deficiencies are: difficulty thinking, hallucinations, sadness in the morning, crumbling bones and teeth, swollen granular eyelids, skin clammy, puffy, or scaly, catarrh and pus development, broken bones that fail to knit. Fluorine is destroyed by too high a cooking temperature. Principal food sources of fluorine are: raw goat's milk, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and spinach.

Hydrogen (the moisturizer)
Indications of hydrogen deficiencies are: dehydration, crampy tendons, appetite for salty foods, irritability, excess body heat. Hydrogen soothes the nerves and irrigates every cell in the body. Without hydrogen, blood will not flow and waste and toxic materials could not be washed out of the body. Principal food sources of hydrogen are: water, whey, fruit and vegetable juices, and broths.

Magnesium (the relaxer)
Indications of magnesium deficiencies are: defective memory, deadened nerves, slowed perceptions, incoherent speech, dulled brain, and numbness. The eliminative, neutralizing, laxative, sedative, calming, alkaline properties of magnesium are essential to the proper functioning of the body. Principal food sources of magnesium are: nuts, wheat germ, whole grains, greens, berries, yellow corn meal.

Manganese (the "love" element)
Indications of manganese deficiencies are: mental confusion, quarrelsomeness, anger, depression, aversion to being touched, cracking joints, and reduced appetite. In general, manganese deals with the following functions in the body: helps brain fibers make connection, encouraging coordination of thought and purpose; improves eyesight, benefits small-print and distance viewing. Principal food sources of manganese are: nuts and seeds.

Nitrogen (the restrainer)
Indications of nitrogen deficiencies are: absentmindedness, lack of desire to work, danger of blood clots, mood swings (joy/anger), sexual weakness, and hypochondria. When nitrogen metabolism is optimum, vitality is great; if the reverse is true, the brain is likely to manifest a weakness. Principal food sources of nitrogen are: beans, peas, nuts, whey.

Sulphur (the heating element)
Indications of sulphur deficiencies are: impulsiveness, body dryness, irritability, worry, and aversion to early rising. The activity of sulphur reaches each minute cell, enabling it to eliminate toxic substances through agitation. Principal food sources of sulphur are: cabbage garlic, kale, cauliflower Brussels spurts.

No patient will exhibit all of the symptoms and diseases of a mineral deficiency at one time. But when a few basic symptoms are identified, the case is no longer an enigma.
