Home canners are large pressure cookers that can get temperatures well over the boiling point of water. Pressure canners are necessary to make canned food safe.They can be purchased at most hardware and department stores in rural areas. I never canned meat myself, but have canned greens, green beans, and tomatoes, plus fruit, apple sauce, apple butter, sweet pickle relish, and jellies and jams. Its labor intensive, but sure tastes good.
