It doesn't look like a scab, though. Scabs are brown. When our lips get the hard covering, it is clear or lip colored until other things change its color, like food, or getting wet so it turns white, which is another thing scabs don't do. It feels like a scab only because it's hard and inflexible. As for it pulling the lips in tighter, that's because this dead skin has lost its elasticity and is piling in on top of itself.
