Now that research is showing how using glyco supplements help the body regulates itself with the correct glycoproteins & glycolipids, a med school(Einstein) has discovered that a glycolipid named alpha galactosylceramide can regress tumors-"somewhat like chemo but without the usual side effects". The lipid directs the immune system to attack it. A Dr. Porcelli states " What's interesting is that this same glycolipid that provokes an immune response against tumors can also shut down harmful immune responses in the non-obese diabetic mouse".

Research has shown that this lipid acts in men and mice through the same mechanism. It binds specifically to CD1 protein. This protein?glycolipid antigen is recognized by CD1d-dependent T-cells, which responed by either attacking tumors or suppressing autoimmune activity. It can activate both systems at the same time, the good doctor states.
