Re: My Cat Is Overgrooming...Help!

My cat is older. She had licked her tummy and the hair was completely gone. Thus she was referred to as shaved pussy. (smile)

I learned that this may be caused by overvaccination. There is info on the net about this. It is found with dogs too.

I tried many things including cortisone shots, dietary changes, litter box change. I even went to a cat psychic who worked on her inner kitten! Spent piles of cash at various vets but not a single one could help. Finally a temporary vet subbing one day suggested I try Elavil which is anti-neurosis and helps with itching. It is a drug and the cat gets dazed BUT it broke the cycle of licking to the point where the hair reappeared by about 80%. This was a miracle. She was hairless on her belly for nearly 5 years. She was also licking behind her front and back legs. In the meantime I had lost my cat because she was so spaced out from the Elavil.

After the improvement I took her off the Elavil and gave her a product made by Azmira called Naturfiber. It is human grade and has acidophilus, pysillium, and reishi mushrooms. I also gave her the Azmira kelp supplement powder and changed her diet to the Azmira brand wet food. She has missing teeth so she prefers this over the dry and it easy to mix the powder into the food.

Finally after a long journey she is back to her old self. She has more energy and is much more affectionate now.

T-god for that.
