Re: arming teachers

Arming teachers is a very bad idea. School shootings are still pretty rare. Having thousnads of guns in schools increases the chance of violence through teachers going postal/flipping out, kids (bad apples) getting hold of the guns, accidental discharge etc. Obviosly those situations will be pretty rare, just like school shootings. Plus it sets a bad example to children. Trapper, you obviously grew up in a pretty rural area. Most people these days live in urban areas. I grew up in D.C. and never saw one gun in a pickup truck. In fact I don't think I ever saw a pickup truck. Kids bringing guns to school in urban areas is a real problem. By allowing teachers to pack heaters you are going to have a hard time convincing students that bringing guns themselves is a bad idea. Long guns is not the problem in this country. It is the handguns.

An armed society is a violent society.
