It sounds more like to me...


that the grinding head may be worn and/or the housing may be warped.
The newer Champions from late 80s on, use a softer plastic than the originals and are especially prone to wear.

Certainly Celery has strings {you can even strip them off and not worry about chopping up} - BUT I've owned many Champions over the years, and only have problems with carrots or beets when the the pieces are worn or warped.

If the the motor cuts out when juicing carrots then it has been been abused and overheated, sometimes a new thermal cut-out switch replaced internally helps, but really this is only a band-aid as its the motor windings that have overheated.
