Re: We lost her n/m

Dear furry friend lovers,

Thank you for your kind words. You don't know how much of a comfort they are to me.

Haley's hematocrit dropped to 30% at midnight but went up to 31% at 4AM. At that time she looked normal, had a good attitude, and there was no indication at all of any distress. There was a donor available right there for her if it looked like a blood transfusion was warranted.

At 6:30AM, the vet examined Haley again and she looked good. She was given a soft food breakfast, which Haley ate, and water to drink, which Haley drank. The vet personally took Haley out for a stretch break to watch her void. Haley pottied and pooped. She then had a massive hemmorhage and died right there.

The poison had gone into Haley's intestines. There was no way of knowing this ahead of time. Her vitals, her CBC, her demeanor, everything, looked good. The strain of a normal BM tore her intestinal walls and she was gone.

My husband came to pick her up as scheduled at 7:30AM but had to arrange for Haley's burial instead.

Please forgive me if I have caused emotional distress. I know some of you want to know what happened. Thank you for caring. It means a lot.

Blessings,
-Donna
