"working" -in regards to allopathic medicines- likely, ( being generous and presuming basic intelligence) means
that it *appears to solve the immediate problem*. Ameliorates the symptoms.
Tylen ol dulls the headache which may well be liver-congestion in its origin. So--Tylen ol 'works' , but it 'doesn't'.
I think that's the author's point. I get it -- Most of what we see happening around us 'big time' these days takes this *allopathically-minded* approach of "problem-solving" (or, you might argue, "damage control" ), so, can we just agree
that HERE we are
all attempting to speak about one subject --and to come from a place of assuming equality --
as much as in our limited viewpoints that is possible.
Arguing ( in the absence of a partner even!) about *whether someone learned to read
only makes any subsequent reader wonder what traumas the author * experienced around reading...
