Desperately seeking help with balding Golden!

My golden is going bald! He started out with the most beautiful thick, red, shiny coat. Since he's only two years old, healthy, and free of any kind of parasite or infection, neither my vet nor I can figure out why he's going bald. There haven't been any major changes in the household or routine either. I just can't figure it out. Right now, he just had blood drawn to be tested for a hormonal imbalance. But he's only two years old and not over weight! He's perfect!

He's currently on antihistamines, and I've been feeding him Wellness Fish and Sweet Potato formula. I've been told that many dogs who have food allergies do wonderfully on the Wellness. I did have him on Timberwolf organics but he got gas. Bad gas! Eye watering, nasal burning, room clearing, gas!

Has anyone had experience with a young, balding, gassy, animal like mine?
