Re: An Aussie's comment

My apologies I got the gasoline guy wrong. But what this has to do with gun laws, is what it has to do with one's right to defend oneself, so it definitely is indirectly related. If the gun laws were not effected last Christmas, the riots would not have happened at all - forget the blood bath, it would not even have come to that, the underlying issues involving attacks over many years would not have escalated to the point of desperation on the Aussie's part. See without a means to protect yourself, the criminal knows that there are no immediate consequences to their actions, they can go around and bash whomever they like, rape whomever they like, etc, and maybe the police will catch up with them down the track, maybe they won't. But for sure, the victim who is without means to self defense is likely to suffer great injury, sometimes even death during the attack.

Guns are tools for self defense. The sale of guns needs to be prohibited to felons, as it is in the USA but law abiding people who want to protect themselves and their families from thugs, need to be allowed to do so and should receive proper training in the safe handling of firearms. Education elimates fear. People get edcuated about how to operate a motor vehicle safely so why not tools for self defense, such as a gun?
