Re: Tippy Toes

My thanks also for the Tippy Toes post. Where I grew up we went barefoot from spring through fall. Until we got in high school, we were allowed to come to school barefoot if we so chose. Several of us would go barefoot until frost or until Mom threatened bodily harm if we did not put on some shoes. Usually started going barefoot in late March or early April and only on Sunday put on shoes. By the time we had to wear shoes again our feet would have seemed to have spread. Shoes would be difficult to get on and get used to all over. Even to this day I detest wearing shoes and do go barefoot whenever possible.

My great granddaughter is 4 now and will resist for all she is worth when it comes time to "shod" her. She knows instinctively what is not natural. She and I actually walk across gravel driveways, etc.

By the way, when I was 14 I had gotten an ingrown toenail and going for the next few months barefoot actually cured the toenail.
