The opposite of love is fear...

...because fear spawns all of the negative conditions... hatred and malice, jealousy and envy, and all the associated damaging and destructive emotional states.

Love (which is the glue that binds the universe), spawns all of the positive states of being, compassion, tolerance and understanding.

The interplay of the opposites is what we endeavor to integrate. By being constantly 'seduced' by negative duality as young souls, we generally accrue bad Karma from life to life until we learn to BALANCE the energy.

Once we begin to erase the strings of negative Karma that bind us to the physical world, (learning true love, compassion, tolerance and understanding) we can finally enter that state of grace that takes us past the veil, off of the wheel of Karma.... beyond the need to keep coming back again and again to learn those lessons in life which will lead to our ultimate spiritual growth....

BTW, we need the negative and well as the positive, the creative as well as the destructive, the duality of the physical plane, and the freedom of choice, or we would have no environment in which to evolve and on our journey back to God...
