Re: Hormone related acne

Needing calcium is an advertising ploy by the dairy industry and is actually not true. Calcium has always been scarce in the diet, unlike magnesium. The body stores calcium. There are absolutely no studies that show that calcium consumption, especially the consumption of dairy, prevents OR reduces osteoporosis. The reason people get osteoporosis is 1. Lack of exercise (this is why people on space missions are not advised to drink milk all the time but rather to do constant weight bearing exercise) and 2. magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is crucial for calcium regulation (that is why calcium is the antagonist of magnesium). Calcium taken through supplement without enough dietary(not supplemental other than injections) magnesium will only sit in the blood, giving a calming effect only to be excreted and not stored. This is why doctors are baffled by calcium deficiencies (they give calcium IV or calcium supplement, see the problem corrected in a blood test. There is an initial high calcium reading and then an even WORSE calcium deficiency than before) when the real problem is a magnesium deficiency.
