The pain I believe your wife is experiencing sounds like Sensory Neuropathy. You might want to do some research on it. I don't really know of a cure so-to-speak, however there is a book called "The Healing Powers of Peppers" which stated a test was done over an 8-week period using capsaicin cream. Out of 219 patients: 25% had complete relief, 50% of the participants reported significant improvement, and only 25% said they did not receive any relief. So you may want to also study a bit on capsaicin cream. I hope I was helpful.
