Re: I hate having a mom who is psychic. It's getting old now.
Hi there, One Step Closer,
Golly, I just bet it is getting old. Gee.
I hope this doesn't sound pushy, and if it does it's totally cool to just ignore me because what do I know really? The sentence that popped out at me was "I called her to ask her about it."
So I was wondering... You called her seeking her feedback? And, what benefit would you like to hear, when you call her? Would you like to hear "Gosh, I'm surprised," or would you like to hear "I knew that would happen"? Sounds as if you got through the situation just fine on your own, even without her help. Maybe next time you could call a girlfriend instead?
In some parent-child relationships, even when the child grows up, they have become accustomed to reporting developments in their life to the parent, and then the parent evaluates it in some way or reacts to it, and naturally that has a big influence on how the son or daughter then interprets it.
Me, I am psychic like a sea sponge. But maybe your mom is honestly psychic, and if so great. Being psychic is useful when it helps someone see wonderful potential possibilities in her own true path in the world, when it helps her meet the world with eyes happily open to the many splendored pageant of it all. Otherwise, it's kind of a parlor trick, fun but not something you'd use to steer a car. How often does your mom predict that you are going to take steps to follow your own true dream? Does she know what your dream is?
And by the way, people who have suffered through unexpected traumas and blows in life tend to make it a habit to be very vigilant about potential omens and signs. They might see so many many things as a sign or an omen, that statistically some of these omens have to come true. Bingo! They were right! It's possible that your mom really wants to feel useful. She really wants to show you that she plays a necessary important role in your life. Maybe there is a way to welcome her help in some other way, and then just find supportive people who will welcome and support your hunches and inklings, and rejoice with you when they succeed, and be very caring and kind as you learn from mistakes too. A supportive group can work even better than a crystal ball.
Very best wishes!
Autumn
