flushing mechanism

I have a question regarding the mechanism of the flush. During a flush, can a stone getting out of liver be stored in the GB? or liver stones either get out or get stuck so that if you flush the number of stones in the GB either decreases or remains the same but they cannot get new stones from the liver.
