Re: Confusion over the role of diet and parasites

Hi
As I understand it, a raw diet helps to control parasites as the food passes through the gut too quickly for many parasites to get a grip, so I suppose raw meat, if eaten with LOTS of raw veggies would pass through quicker than normal and so cause fewer problems than a piece of steak eaten with fries. However, what is true is that human's stomach acid is many times weaker than that of a carnivore, which makes us very susceptible to parasites contained in meat.

Like Shelby, I am a vegan eating a mainly raw diet and would not EVER consider eating raw meat. Mind you, I don' t believe in killing for my food anyway. But that aside, I believe that raw meat would not be healthy for me.

Each to their own though and I guess that a raw omnivore would probably be much healthier than a cooked one.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Jasmine
