Re: Josh Marshall's Talking Points
well, i'm guessing because he's a "military man" he hasn't been trained in the skills of tact exactly. i THINK i kinda' know what he's talking about, but the manner in which he's chosen to convey his message basically tells ME that "we'll have to convince the countries that whimped out in the beginning that our cause is noble, and somehow guilt them into helping us out - financially, logistically, and militarily - then we may thimb our noses at them and tell them 'see - we TOLD you we were right!', because we're the most important and powerful nation on the planet". THAT's what i was getting out of what the good general was saying. as usual, america has to wear the loudest t-shirt, the brightest shorts, and the biggest trucker-hat, speaking with the booming voice of the ignoramus the world basically views us to be. "speak softly and carry a big stick" was completely lost on us. our administration has diarrhea of the mouth, and has sent a buch of kids into a country to solve a conflict which they're not yet willing to solve, all under the big guise of "the sky is falling". but enough about foreign policy. in the meantime, back at the ranch, cuts in funding researching AIDS and how to spread the news of prevention are bing made, all under the good old blanket of morality (see this week's "the nation"). eeeeek!
