Re: An open letter to a Republican friend
last week, as my husband and i were returning to our apartment building from an evening out, we were greeted by our doorman, a nice guy, who, smiling, handed us a piece of paper. he briefly explained that the lyrics he'd written were to the tune of the beatles' "yellow submarine". i read it on the elevator, and found it was about usai & uday. not flattering, either, i might add. although sophomoric in style and content, i could understand the basic feelings the doorman had. i mean, i don't know anyone out there, democrat or republican, who harbors any warm feelings toward these men. however, i couldn't help but wish that he'd devoted the same time and insight toward writing something about his OWN administration. perhaps something set to the tune of "london bridge is falling down"...., with a few tweaks to the geographic setting.
mike hudson's sentiments are more in tune with this household. i never assume that someone holds the same political views as my own, not even my husband, so how come people like joe and my doorman do? makes no sense to me.
